Job Developer:

Education and Experience Matrix one of the following combinations is required:

high school diploma or GED

Minimum 6 years experience providing employment related services to a disabled population or 8 years experience providing employment related services to a non-disabled population.

associate degree in a human service or related field

Minimum 5 years experience providing employment related services to a disabled population or 7 years experience providing employment related services to a non-disabled population.

associate degree in a specific rehabilitation related field
(e.g. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant)

Minimum 4 years experience providing employment related services to a disabled population or 6 years experience providing employment related services to a non-disabled population.

bachelor degree in a human service or related field

Minimum 3 years experience providing employment related services to a disabled population or 5 years experience providing employment related services to a non-disabled population.

bachelor degree in a specific rehabilitation related field (e.g. rehabilitation counseling)

Minimum 2 years experience providing employment related services to a disabled population or 4 years experience providing employment related services to a non-disabled population.

master’s degree in a human service or related field

Minimum 1 year experience providing employment related services to a disabled population or 3 years experience providing employment related services to a non-disabled population.

No experience required.

Other Position Requirements:

  • Class C driver’s license and proof of valid automobile insurance.
  • Flexible work schedule to include some evenings, weekends and holidays.

Typical Tasks and Duties include the following. This is not an exhaustive task list and other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate or necessary by the supervisor or program director. Reasonable work accommodation will be provided to any qualified person with a medical or psychiatric disability, providing with will not change the essential nature of the position nor cause undue hardship to the Association’s operations.

  • Coordinate with appropriate funding sources (City governments, County Department of Mental Health, State Department of Rehabilitation, etc.) to determine client eligibility and disposition.
  • Conduct individual psychosocial assessments of members' job readiness and employment-related deficits.
  • Participate in the development of each member's Individual Placement Plan, which will detail member's employment rehabilitation goals and an action plan for achieving those goals.
  • Develop employment positions with employers in the community that are suitable to the needs and desires of members. Maintain an organized system of recording job openings including names of employers, persons referred, and actions taken.
  • Assist employers to identify, modify, and/or eliminate architectural, procedural, instructional/communication, and/or attitudinal barriers to the employment and advancement of persons with disabilities.
  • Coordinate with member’s personal service coordinator to provide needed supports to attain employment goals. Report weekly to service coordination teams on members progress in attaining employment related goals.
  • Lead members in weekly employment readiness and employment support groups.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations and provide feedback regarding the member's employment performance.
  • Enhance disability awareness in the community by educating employers about topics such as job accommodations, assistive devices, services provided by the agency, incentives to employers, and current disability-related legislation affecting the employer.

Maintain all records and documentation required for program compliance and accountability in accordance with MHA standards and funding source requirements.
