 Role of Personal Service Coordinator 

  • Generalist First- Specialist Second
  • Personal Service Coordinators are PARTNERS not Case Managers
  • A typical day may involve doing the opposite of what was the "plan"
  • PSCs wear many "hats," (social, friend, job coach, whatever it takes)
  • Spend half of their time out in the field
  • Relate in Adult to Adult Relationships with members
  • Find their own boundaries (some PSCs give members their home phone numbers, others choose not to)
  • Do things with members not for them
  • Rotate the On-Call beeper hours and have to be on Call about once every 6 weeks
  • Do two evening or weekend social activities planned with members each month
