SUPPORTED EDUCATION

Returning to school can help members improve their skills, earn a degree, gain additional education for a job or pursue an interest. The Village's Supported Education Program Assists members at the remedial, high school and college levels.

Description

Ÿ Members' educational goals are included in their Personal Services Plans,

which identify all the services and supports members need to live, work, learn and socialize in the community.

Ÿ Personal Service Coordinators help members enroll in school, complete financial aid applications, schedule classes, and purchase books and supplies.

Ÿ The Coordinator also coaches members in adjusting to the school atmosphere, communicating with teachers and school administrators, and using counseling and tutoring services.

Impact

Ÿ Supported education enables members to take advantage of educational opportunities for building a career, enriching their personal development and expanding their social avenues.

Ÿ Supported education helps them complete GED or continue with college studies.

Ÿ Members now see education and training as steps to career advancement.
