Training Currently Provided to Village Staff
All Village staff participate in a comprehensive orientation and
ongoing training program. This program consists of the following elements:
- Orientation to the philosophy, values and practices of the
integrated service approach.
- Participation in the Village Immersion training
- Annual non-violent crisis intervention training.
- Annual CPR training.
- Monthly training on a variety of special topics provided by outside
experts (e.g., HIV, dual diagnosis, cultural competency, assessing
risk of violence).
- Training in the handling and disposal of blood-borne pathogens.
- Participation in the extensive outside training opportunities made
available through the LAC/DMH training division (e.g., Dialectical
Behavioral Therapy).
- Participation in the semi-annual California Association of Social
Rehabilitation Agencies (CASRA) conferences.
- Participation in the annual International Association of
Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services (IAPSRS) conference.
- Participation in the biannual World Association of Psychiatric
Rehabilitation Services (WAPRS) conference.
- Participation in a variety of conferences of topical interest (e.g.,
National Association of Case Management, Latino Behavioral Health Care
Conference, etc.)
In addition to attending, our staff often serve as presenters at many
of these conferences.
